Reseller News Join Reseller News Sign up to gain exclusive access to email subscriptions, event invitations, competitions, giveaways, and much more.Sign up now Credit: Dreamstime The information and communication technology (ICT) industry was among the top three segments of the local market that saw the greatest increase in jobs ads on recruitment site Seek NZ in April.  For the second month in a row, the latest Seek NZ Employment Report showed the highest number of jobs ever advertised on the seek.co.nz jobs website.  The three industries that experienced the highest growth, month-on-month, were hospitality and tourism, which was up by 42.7 per cent compared to the month prior; manufacturing, transport and logistics, which was up by 18.1 per cent; and information and communication technology, with an increase of 14.6 per cent.

The Seek NZ employment report for April showed job adverts were up 12 per cent month on month. Meanwhile, the number of applications per job ad fell nine per cent month-on-month. The new data lends weight to employer concerns about labour shortages restricting the capacity for economic growth. New Zealand is truly in a jobseeker s market, said Seek NZ general manager Janet Faulding.

STATE OF THE NATION: Applications per job ad fell 9% month-on-month (m/m). SEEK job ads were up by 12% m/m. SEEK job ads were up by 355% in April 2021 when compared to April 2020 (y/y) and were up 19% when compared to April 2019. Seventeen industries are at the highest ever job ad volumes. Hospitality & Tourism continues very strong start to 2021 with 43% m/m increase.
