a limb and would normally strike someone several times her age. i ve lost over 100 pounds. i ve changed my diet completely. i m more focused on my health now. myself as her primary caretaker, i had to change my lifestyle in terms of the way i eat, what i shop for. reporter: doctors meeting in san diego tell us it s frightening what they re seeing. in areas where childhood obesity is at its worst, they say as much as 40% of all new patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes are teenagers between 10 and 17 with one out of three children being either overweight or obese, we are seeing an increased occurrence of type 2 diabetes in the second decade of life. reporter: for some teens with type 2 doctors are suggesting gastric bypass surgery. it worked for amanda munson. she lost 100 pounds. i no longer have to take medicine for my diabetes. i don t have to worry about my heart rate or heart pressure problems. reporter: janelle jolley told
