Remarkable events : More festivals and events scheduled to take place in Edmonton

  EDMONTON As COVID-19 cases continue to remain low and the days of public health restrictions fade away, more events in Edmonton are being locked in. From international sporting events, a new comedy festival, and other time-honoured local staples like Taste of Edmonton, The Fringe, and Heritage Days, the lack of restrictions in Alberta are attracting events back to the city. The world’s best rugby players from 12 of the top rugby nations will come to Edmonton this September. Edmonton will replace London, England on the World Rugby Sevens Series world tour, joining other cities like Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vancouver, the tour’s other Canadian stop.

Edmonton confirms increased public support for FIFA World Cup 2026 hosting 06/09/21 Edmonton, Canada – June 9, 2021 – The City of Edmonton has today announced a comprehensive and growing level of public support for their candidature to be a host city of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, taking place in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Collated feedback from surveys conducted in 2018 and 2020 show an increased level of public support for the hosting. Edmonton is one of three Canadian cities included in the United bid, alongside Montreal and Toronto, with the city’s Commonwealth Stadium having a capacity of 56,400 and located just minutes from the city centre.
