The Best Virtual Fashion Course to Take This Black History Month

The theme of this US Black History Month is access – so Depop and the Black in Fashion Council have teamed up to celebrate Black entrepreneurs by offering a new generation of creatives access to Black industry leaders.
Through a series of talks and conversations that kick off on February 16, they re opening up the virtual classroom to look back and celebrate Black culture’s impact on fashion and to empower up-and-coming talent. The fashion industry is infamously opaque and difficult to break into, but the pandemic has shown us that virtual learning is one of the best ways to up-skill on your own and get your foot in the door. This program is an opportunity to learn tips and tricks from some of the best stylists, writers, designers, and consultants in the industry.
Janell and Desi waited to see if the pandemic would be contained by their October 2020 date. But as the summer months approached and the number of cases in the U.S. rapidly rose, things didn t look promising. By June, the couple knew it was time to create a Plan B. We knew we didn t have to execute it right away, but we had to start thinking of an alternative, Janell tells The Knot. They wanted to stay local to keep family and friends safe and also knew people felt more comfortable gathering outdoors. Janell knew she still wanted a beautiful, nature-filled space, and set out to explore alternative wedding venues. Being prepared was the right move, as Los Poblanos called in July to inform the couple they d have to cancel the event.
