Letter from the Editor: Breaks should be valued

Letter from the Editor: Breaks should be valued I’m very excited for summer, for the first time in a while. Of course, warm weather and not having classes is great, but mostly I’m looking forward to this summer vacation since it will probably be my last. I’ve always taken summer vacation for granted, since I’ve never been without it. But I’m starting to think more and more about what my life will be like working year round. When I was younger, I would feel so sad for adults because they had to work in the summer and I didn’t realize it would be so soon until I was one of those adults.

Letter from the Editor: In the name of optimism

Letter from the Editor: In the name of optimism I remember the first time I wrote a letter from the editor for my high school’s magazine. I was (and still am) nervous that I would sound too serious and not make profound enough statements, that I wouldn’t give people enough to talk about like those who wrote before me.  I’m very excited to be the new editor of The Monthly and thankful for the guidance I’ve gotten from previous editors. I hope to carry on the legacy of exciting and reliable content, but I’m also excited to blaze my own path for this desk.
