The Oakdale Senior Center has partnered with the Area Agency on Aging to offer weekly “to-go” food for local senior citizens since last April. Once the Senior Center on East A Street closed due to the pandemic, the city could no longer offer daily hot lunches there. As a work-around, the Area Agency on Aging with Stanislaus County provides the food, and the city provides the location and volunteers to distribute.

Crowds Flock For Vaccine As ‘Stay Home’ Order Lifts The crowds curled around the block and parking was near to impossible to find as residents flocked to the Gladys Lemmon Senior Center on Tuesday, Jan. 26 to receive the first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. People started lining up at 2 a.m. for the 9 a.m. event as there were only 500 doses available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The City of Oakdale and Stanislaus County Public Health are working together for this ongoing effort. New clinics will be scheduled as the county receives more doses.
