Tiny Gourock gardeners are helping an Inverclyde organisation with an environmental project

Youngsters at Binnie Street Children s Centre got busy collecting leaves for Inverclyde Shed s compost bins. A group of intrepid tots went on an expedition to Gourock Park and managed to collect a lot of material for the project. The autumn leaves were deposited in the Shed s leaf bins and will help make next year s mould compost. Inverclyde Shed chairman Bruce Newlands said the mini horticulturalists did a fine job. He said: This is a great way to encourage wee ones to take care of the environment by keeping it tidy and looking after it. They learned more about the reason for tidying up the leaves, creating the compost, and how it all works together.
