Rosemary Rimkus This is the story of the three statues that appeared at St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery about 17 years ago. When the expansion of St. Michael Parish cemetery was imminent in 2004, John R. Nelson, then a Bolton resident, came to the rescue. Upon the untimely death of his wife, Judith, in 2004, her burial was in the Hudson cemetery, and Nelson and his sons helped to plan and realize the cemetery expansion. Nelson, 77, who died at his home in Leland, North Carolina, on Feb. 9, 2021, was buried next to his wife on Feb. 19, 2021, following his funeral Mass at St. Michael Church. Nelson’s gift not only included the design and expansion of the section bounded by Cox Street and Old Stow Road, but the installation of life-size statues of St. Michael, St. Jude and St. Anthony. The Rev. Walter Carreiro of St. Anthony Parish, Cambridge, then pastor of St. Michael s Church, said he was delighted at the time to receive Nelson’s support, the architectural aid of his son, Scott
