BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of South Central Kentucky, an agency that provides trained citizen volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the family court systems throughout the region, recently announced that three new Board of Directors have joined their team. The following individuals will be volunteering their time and talents to the organization’s board:
Debra Diamond,
Western KY University
This group of community minded leaders from around the region bring a variety of backgrounds and experience including human resources, event planning, construction, management, marketing/PR, sales/fundraising and accounting. They joined an established Board of Directors of 17, 6 CASA employees, and 88 volunteer advocates.
Ten new court appointed special advocate volunteers for the region were sworn in during a virtual ceremony earlier this month.
Nine women and one man, representing 3 counties in southcentral Kentucky, completed their virtual training requirements in November to become CASAs.
This is the fourth new set of advocates sworn in since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. In total, 31 advocates have been sworn in since March.
âWe currently have over 60 children on our waitlist needing an advocate,â CASA of South Central Kentucky Executive Director Jana Sublett said in a news release. âThese 10 individuals are ready to take cases, and with our current state, our children need them now more than ever.â
