Halo 5: Guardians was released back in 2015. But it was only a few days ago that finally, after six years, players found a secret race involving mongoose four-wheelers. All it took to find this Easter egg was a little help from the developer who added it to the game.

On Easter Sunday, game developer Jan Willem Nijman posted a tweet asking fellow devs to share Easter eggs they had hidden in games. Easter has come and gone now, and here in the RPS treehouse we lounge with bellies full of chocolate chatting about our favourite little surprises in games. Alice O has already asked you, dear reader, what s your favourite video game Easter egg? It appears some game developers have been pondering a similar question on Twitter, and revealing the best Easter eggs they ve hidden in their games - from hiding games within games, to live coding an RPG to rewriting an RPG s script live to mess with streamers.
The question was posed on Twitter by game designer and developer, Jan Willem Nijman, who s worked on games like Nuclear Throne and Minit, and the responses in the thread do not disappoint.
Game Devs Are Sharing Their Favorite Easter Eggs
In honor of the springtime holiday, game developers are pointing out some of the secrets they ve tucked away in games.
In honor of this weekend s springtime holiday, game developers are sharing some of their favorite Easter eggs in games they ve worked on. A Twitter thread asked devs to respond with the best Easter eggs you ever hid in a game, and developers were happy to oblige.
The request from Vlambeer lead Jan Willem Nijman was followed by a treasure trove of Easter eggs in everything from big AAA releases to smaller indie games. The homages range from film references to hat-tips to other games to small in-jokes.
The four-person team behind
Minit have all at once announced and launched a new game, and promised that all proceeds from it will forever be directed to charity.

Minit Fun Racer, described on Steam as a peculiar little racing game that takes on a similar time looping structure as players collect coins, complete challenges, and unlock upgrades across multiple loops.
Developers Kitty Calis, Jan Willem Nijman, Jukio Kallio and Dominik Johann as well as publisher Devolver Digital have agreed to forgo their shares of any income from
Minit Fun Racer in order to instead route that money to charitable causes. Those charities include Doctors Without Borders and Special Effect.
