Letters: Foster family inspirational, teachers need thanks, ADHD

Thank you for the powerfully inspirational front-page article A Soft Place to Settle in the Monday Dispatch. The Mocharski family is a true role model for empathy, compassion and generosity. With their own family of four children, they opened their door and their hearts to foster two children, unaccompanied minors, crossing the border for safety after their father was murdered, and now separated from their mother. The beautifully written article recounts all who helped make this a soft place to settle. In the midst of daily alarming and frightening reports of ever-increasing violence in our streets and in the world, people like the Mocharskis, Kelly Porter, Jan Phillips and Chris and Amy Bradley, organizations like Love Without Lines, religious institutions like the Unitarian/Universalist Church remind us that it truly takes a village. We are fortunate to have a newspaper like the Dispatch that headlines stories of hope. Very needed!
