St. Michael’s holds dedication for gifted piano

Jan Holly, who passed away on March 4, donated her grand piano to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Sanibel. On Nov. 27, it was dedicated by the Rev. Bill Van Oss. Richard Mattern played two prelude pieces on the piano as part of the dedication, which was attended by Holly’s sisters, Susan Holly and Judy Workman. Whether presiding at the organ at the 5 p.m. service, teaching the spirituality of choral works for the church forum, preparing a recital for members and the community, or teaching music to thousands of college students during her long career, Holly always showed a great talent and willingness to share her knowledge. The parish is forever grateful to her for the gift.
