Meet the North Wales Childline volunteers giving their time to vulnerable children on Christmas Day

A PRESTATYN veteran is among a team of selfless volunteers that will give her time to listen to children and young people in need of help on Christmas Day. Every year at Christmas time a team of selfless Childline volunteers give their time to listen to children and young people about anything that might be worrying them. Last year the service made more than 6,500 counselling sessions to young people from across the UK during the 12 days of Christmas. Topics of conversation included mental health and emotional wellbeing, to family relationships, abuse and neglect, or self-harm and suicidal feelings. Among those giving up their time during the festive period this year is Jan Dock, from Prestatyn, who has been volunteering for Childline since November 2017 after retiring from a successful career in the Army.

Last year, the service delivered 6,566 counselling sessions to children and young people from across the UK and Channel Islands during the 12 days of Christmas. They listen to those who are suffering with their mental health and emotional wellbeing which could deal with family relationships, abuse and neglect, or self-harm and suicidal feelings. Among the many volunteers is Jan Dock from Prestatyn who has been volunteering for Childline since November 2017 after retiring from the Army.
