The potential loss of Greyhound service through Monte Creek would be one more tear in the fabric of life in rural B.C., the chairman of the TNRD board said Wednesday.
If Greyhound continues to cut routes outside major centres, then the province needs to allow other transit companies to pick up the slack, said Randy Murray. There has to be flexibility in carriers if we re starting to see this sort of erosion over and over again, said Murray. We have to have an opportunity to move people somehow.
On June 21, Greyhound notified the Thompson-Nicola Regional District it had filed an application with the B.C. Passenger Transportation Board to cut its stops in Monte Creek. Regional directors were given until July 10 to provide written comments.
