Hiker finds human remains in Fairfax creek bed

A hiker discovered a human skeleton in a creek bed near the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed over the holiday weekend, the Marin County sheriff’s office said Tuesday.
Marin County officials were alerted to the skeleton by a person hiking Sunday near the Alpine Dam on Fairfax-Bolinas Road, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
No information was available about the skeleton or how long it had been in the creek.
A Marin County deputy sheriff and coroner transported the remains to the medical examiner’s laboratory for further examination, officials said. Forensic experts, including those who study dental remains, were called to assist with identification.
