Conservation groups filed their latest legal challenge against rural developments in San Diego County this week, this time targeting the Otay Ranch Resort Village east of Chula Vista.
The groups are opposing the project which calls for constructing a nearly 1,900-home gated community in the Jamul Mountains region on grounds related to the implications for wildfire risk, greenhouse gas emissions and plant and animal species.
The lawsuit was filed against the Southern California developer Baldwin & Sons in San Diego Superior Court. Plaintiffs include the Center for Biological Diversity, Endangered Habitats League, Sierra Club and others.
The home builder did not immediately return a request for comment.
