Uniforms must for JSR auto, bus drivers & helpers from March 1 | Ranchi News

JAMSHEDPUR: Answering to long-pending demands of the people of Jamshedpur, the East Singhbhum district transport office (DTO) on Friday made it mandatory for bus and auto drivers and helpers to wear uniforms from March 1. District transport officer Dinesh Ranjan said, “Auto drivers will have to wear blue safari suits while bus drivers and helpers will wear khaki safari suits. They will also have to wear badges displaying their names and mobile numbers.” Ranjan said the uniform will be compulsory for inter-city and interstate bus drivers and helpers. Ranjan further informed all buses and auto-rickshaws will have the names of the drivers, licence details and Aadhaar numbers pasted on them, which will be signed by the administration and countersigned by the union in-charges. He also said all transport unions have agreed to the new rules.

Jamshedpur: The movement of 23 passenger trains was affected on the busy Howrah-Mumbai route on Wednesday due to a blockade at the Goilkera railway station in West Singhbhum. A local outfit called Nagrik Ekta Manch started the blockade at 8:30am and lifted it seven hours later at 3:30pm. The organisation is demanding stoppage of five long-distance express and superfast trains at Goilkera. The protesters agreed to suspend their protest for a week following much persuasion by the officials of the Chakradharpur railway division. “We have appealed to the leaders of the outfit to wait for a response from the railway board regarding the stoppage of trains,” the senior divisional commercial manager of Chakradharpur, Manish Pathak, said.

Jamshedpur: The Chaibasa forest division in West Singhbhhum district has become the first in the state to install Animal Intrusion Detection and Repellent System (ANIDERS), an intelligent system, to mitigate the man-animal conflict. The division has installed the system at four villages of Angardiha panchayat in Tantnagar block while 17 more villages will be covered in the coming days. Chaibasa divisional forest officer (DFO) Satyam Kumar on Tuesday said the mechanized device will prevent incidents of man-elephant conflict in the area that comes under the Singhbhum Elephant Reserve (SER). The officer further said ANIDERS uses infra-red sensors to detect animal movement and works as a mechanized scarecrow.

District officials seal a hotel in Jamshedpur on Thursday JAMSHEDPUR: The District administration on Thursday sealed Fortune Park Center Point hotel in Jamshedpur after 11 foreigners and one hotel staff tested positive for Covid-19. Additional chief medical officer (ACMO) Sahir Pall said that the foreigners were employees of Mill Track International company. While tracing their contacts, the district health department conducted tests on 29 staff members of the hotel and one employee was found to be positive, he said. “The administration has, therefore, sealed the hotel for carrying out containment measures to prevent the spread of the disease,” he said. Notably, 46 foreign nationals of Mill Track International company had arrived in Jamshedpur between December 5 and December 8. They hail from Philippines, New Zealand, Ghana, Zambia and South Africa.
