Jul 24, 2021 The scheme shall be implemented in J&K by the Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), department of Science & Technology. The participants were sensitized about the benefits of the scheme in reducing the production cost of the crops and facilitating increase in the income of farmers. In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said, “Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy and irrigation is the backbone of Agriculture.” “Scheme like PM-KUSUM has been launched solely with the aim to raise the income the farmers and they should come forward to avail the benefits of such schemes”, the Deputy Commissioner added. The Deputy Commissioner asked the public representatives to identify the eligible beneficiaries in their respective jurisdictions so that they can be provided necessary benefits under the scheme. .

Jul 16, 2021 Speaking on the occasion, the CEO JAKEDA said that the Solar backed irrigation mechanism being introduced under the PM-KUSUM scheme is bound to transform the agriculture sector and also enhance the livelihood of small to marginal farmers. The scheme launched by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Government of India envisages distribution of subsidized Solar powered Agricultural pumps. She informed that in the first phase 5000 solar powered pumps shall be installed in J&K out of which 2500 will be installed in the current fiscal. She further informed that solar powered Agriculture pumps in the capacity range of 2 HP to 10 HP shall be installed in J&K UT.
