There is no accurate count of how many, mostly madarsa teachers and students, had gone theere, but the rise of militancy in Bangladesh in the 1990s was spurred on by these fighters returning home.

The court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Helal Uddin granted his three-day remand in each of the three cases after he was produced before the court with a seven-day remand prayer for each case, said Chattogram Court s Inspector Humayun Kabir.
