Mohammad Abu Maizar Born in the city of Hebron in 1936, growing up in Jerusalem, Abu Maizar (“Abu Hatim”) pursued university studies in Cairo. He joined the Arab Socialist Ba ath Party in 1951, then the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) in 1962. Subsequently he moved between Libya, Algeria (where he met Khalil al-Wazir “Abu Jihad” and Ernesto “Che” Guevara), France, Damascus, Lebanon, and Jordan.
