An unusual object seen flying across Arizona Tuesday evening, which left many confused and intrigued, was a high altitude weather balloon.
The balloon was spotted in Cottonwood, Sedona, Wittmann and Flagstaff, among other cities across Arizona. I remember seeing this when I was camping out there, had no idea what it was, one person wrote.
But the mystery of the flying object ha solved, and the reality is less than otherworldly.
A NASA spokeswoman confirmed to The Arizona Republic that the balloon was part of its spring 2021 balloon campaign.
Spokeswoman Jamie Lee Adkins said it was one of the agency s scientific balloons used to gather weather data.
