141,000 mid-Michigan children to benefit from monthly COVID relief payments, Kildee says

FLINT, MI U.S Representative Dan Kildee (D-Flint Township) announced that 141,000 children across Michigan’s Fifth Congressional District will benefit from new monthly payments to families under a new program passed in the American Rescue Plan.
Starting in July, families with children are eligible to receive $3,600 per child under the age of six and $3,000 per child under the age of 18. The program is an expansion of the Child Tax Credit that was passed in the American Rescue Plan, the latest COVID-19 stimulus package that Kildee supported and President Joe Biden signed into law in March.
Tuberville sticks by story on Pence evacuation as Trump lawyers dismiss it as ‘hearsay’

Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville stood by his story that he informed then-President Trump that then-Vice President Mike Pence was being escorted out of the Capitol as rioters stormed the building on Jan. 6 after one of Trump’s impeachment lawyers Friday characterized the phone call as “hearsay.”
The phone conversation between Tuberville and Trump has become a key part of the timeline of the former president’s behavior during the riot as senators continued to hold the Trump’s impeachment trial on Friday.
House managers claimed the Tuberville-Trump phone call began around 2 p.m. Jan. 6 and that Trump tweeted 24 minutes later that Pence did not have “the courage” to delay certification of the 2020 election. Pence was evacuated around 2:15 p.m., and Tuberville said he relayed that development to the president.
