The parents of a 29-year-old Providence man who narrated an hours-long standoff with police Saturday on social media from a closed highway said on Sunday he is a loving son and father who served for years in the Marine Corps. Felicia Sanders, Bey’s mother, said her son is not violent, nor is he antipolice or antigovernment. “All Jamhal wants is for people of all races to be treated fairly and equally. And he wants the law to be upheld as such,” Sanders said. “He just wants people to be treated fairly, that’s all he wants. And he wants to be treated with respect.”
