Syracuse, N.Y. - US News and World Report just released the best High Schools in New York and 5 of those are in Central New York.
New Hartford leads the pack for the third year in a row ranking No. 67 across the state with a 100% graduation rate.
They are followed by Ithaca No. 72, Jamesville-Dewitt High School 73, Fayetteville-Manlius 76, and Skaneateles Senior High School at 84. All have graduation rates of at least 94% and college readiness scores above 50.

Onondaga County vaccine clinics will start using the Johnson & Johnson shot again, starting with a Friday clinic at Fabius Community Center. The county had suspended use of the single-dose vaccine as the FDA and CDC investigated the few cases of rare blood clots following vaccination. Health Commissioner Doctor Indu Gupta said the federal warning and pause should instill confidence, not raise concern. It means that if there are problems, they are going to continue to come back and will say that ‘Okay there’s a problem here. Let’s pause, and let’s try to assess.’ So if anything this should give more confidence in the people in the system. Not less,” said Gupta.

‘We tried to find answers’: Mother of Jamesville teen killed by police on her son’s mental health struggles

Jamesville, N.Y. The mother of a 17-year-old shot and killed by police last week in Jamesville today detailed some of the efforts she made to get help for her son who had two mental health disorders.
Judson Albahm of Jamesville was fatally shot on March 4 by members of the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, DeWitt police and New York State Police during a confrontation with the teen who was suffering a mental health crisis.
“We tried to find answers,” Judson’s mom, Carissa Albahm, said in a statement posted on Facebook, “but we couldn’t even find help to ask questions.”

It was a special experience for Bennett, who remains the school’s all-time scoring leader.
It was through that lens that Bennett, now the head coach at Virginia, viewed Syracuse guard Buddy Boeheim’s play during the Cavaliers’ 72-69 win over the Orange in the ACC tournament’s quarterfinals on Thursday.
