The most recent deaths bring the total to 700 fatalities from Covid-19 since the virus was first detected in Onondaga County last March. During a news conference today, Dr. Indu Gupta urged county residents who have not yet been vaccinated to get a shot to help drive down transmission of the virus. “Vaccines alone don’t do anything if they are sitting in the refrigerator, and that’s what we are up against at this point,’ Gupta said. “We really need people to come to our vaccination sites.”

The county had suspended use of the single-dose vaccine as the FDA and CDC investigated the few cases of rare blood clots following vaccination.
