Gasoline price rise is a sign of inflation

Gasoline price rise is a sign of inflation To the editor: I read the article in the Great Bend Tribune: “Kansas weekly gas prices rise more than 5 cents” (March 10 issue, posted online March 9). As a car driver, I hate to see any increase in the price of gasoline. While I realize that price increases in gasoline, may help oilmen, I still think it is detrimental. When gasoline prices were low, more people could afford to ‘top-off’ their car’s fuel tank. Although I realize the new presidential administration is pushing so-called “green-energy” (and to a degree I support ‘green’ as a portion of our overall national portfolio of conventional oil, clean coal, nuclear - with added safeguards) as well as wind and solar. Letter: Partisan extremism has made loyal opposition an elusive ideal

Deseret News By James Marples Matt York, Associated Press I read the Deseret News Editorial Board article (“What happened to America’s ‘loyal opposition’?” Jan. 29). It is painfully obvious that “extremists” at both ends of the political spectrum are creating a polarizing ideological gap which is turning into uncivil hatred. It’s sad to see longtime friends in the United States of America steadily being turned into enemies. Too many Americans base their opinions on partisan news. It runs the gamut from the TV channels they watch, to social media websites they frequent, to even the friends or cliques within their workplaces and even within churches. It seems everybody has an opinion (on anything), and any opinion running contrary is painted as immoral, crooked, rigged, flawed ridiculed in the most vile and repetitive ways.

The death of Rhonda the monkey at Brit Spaugh Zoo is a loss of a rarity To the editor, I read the article in the Great Bend Tribune: “Zoo says goodbye to Rhonda, the Grivet Monkey” (Dec. 17 issue). It is obvious that as all animals ‘age’ and develop health problems, they grow progressively worse, and that death is quite sad. It is a fact of life, whether it be animals or humans who endure long lives with natural ailments.

The Gilmer Mirror - THREE MEN AND THREE SPECIAL WOOD CEREMONIAL GAVELS

THREE MEN AND THREE SPECIAL WOOD CEREMONIAL GAVELS Dec 18, 2020 | 981 views | 0   | 104  by James A. Marples   Some months ago, when the Covid-19 virus was at a lull ,  I went to Shreveport, Louisiana.  I used to work for a company that had van drivers from Gilmer and Longview driving fresh railroad-crews to distant trains as far away as to Shreveport and Martin Lake coal-fired electric plant and return the departing crews back to Longview.   On my job-route, I d often pass-by the Sunset Masonic Lodge #438.  I d see a bunch of cars and wanted to stop, but I was on-duty and couldn t then.  It took me eight years.  I recently fulfilled that promise.
