Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.: On Dec. 30, Gov. Hochul cut 14% of mental health practitioners from a bill that requires all insurance companies to cover therapy. This will drastically impact New Yorkers’ access to affordable mental health care from qualified providers at a time when waitlists are already very long and many are struggling to afford therapy for themselves and their children.
Manhattan: Re “A surgical intervention” (editorial, Nov. 26): You got this all wrong. Yes, two courts decided Administrative Code 12-126 was interpreted correctly by my organization, the NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees. We earned and paid for the benefits we currently have and any changes should be negotiated by unions for their members, not for retirees they no longer represent. The court was clear with its interpretation of how retirees should be treated after years of committed service to this city.
Manhattan: Every day when I was a young man back in the town called Central, in West Virginia, my Italian mother laid out chores for me and I had a paper route. In winter, there was homework to do. In summer, I was expected to attend Bible school (catechism). I didn’t have much spare time.
Manhattan: As food prices continue to surge, many are wondering how they will afford the culturally relevant food items they need to celebrate the sacred holidays of Ramadan and Passover.
Yonkers: Everyone knows about the failed Valkyrie plot to kill Hitler. Vlad the Invader is today’s incarnation of Hitler. I have a suggestion that might prove more successful than Valkyrie in ridding the world of this pile of feces while putting vast sums of money toward benefiting the entire world.
