“Adding these 24 cameras will equip, really, all the officers that regularly interact with the public,” City Manager James Slaton said.
Lake Wales Police Chief Chris Velasquez said the first training session for implementation of the city s body camera pilot is scheduled for May 27. The city s officers will go live with the body cameras later in the summer. Initially it sounds easy to buy body cameras and set it up, Velazquez said. We have to make sure we have sufficient hands-on training. It seems like an easy task. It s something that needs to be practice and muscle memory for it to become effective.

VENICE, Fla. (Venice Gondolier) - Venice High School athletic director Pete Dombroski was arrested Saturday and charged with DUI, the Venice Gondolier reported.
Dombroski, 63, was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 0.15 or higher, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
He was released on $120 bond Sunday.
“It’s pretty sad because I’ve been there 30 years, and I’ve never tried to do anything to embarrass the school, the athletic department or the community, and I’ve done that now,” Dombroski said.
