Northeast Florida adds 525 coronavirus cases, 16 COVID-19 deaths
State officials logged another 525 coronavirus cases and 16 COVID-19 deaths in Northeast Florida on Wednesday, as Duval County inched nearer to the ugly milestone of its thousandth pandemic death.
The death count in Duval County stood at 997 residents in a daily update from Florida’s Department of Health. A total of 1,721 deaths have been recorded in the six-county region that includes Jacksonville.

Most women interviewed for this story did not want to share their experiences for publication, but for those who did, the general feeling was that men just want to hook up versus getting to know them. Many also believed men were more lax with pandemic safety protocols.
Many men feel the online conversations can drag on too long with in-person meetings an elusive concept.
This forced, protracted virtual courtship has been a challenge.
“You feel like there s buy-in if someone is willing to see you in person, this is whether you re in a pandemic or not,” said Sears. I m not getting on a Zoom for anything unless it s related to work, just because I think everyone s sick of it. So it s either in-person, or we re not doing anything.”
UMW Professor Publishes Paper in Centennial Volume on Montana Geology
Dr. Rob Thomas, from the University of Montana Western s Environmental Sciences Department, was recently published in the Centennial Geology Volume of the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology for his work on the influence of the Yellowstone Hotspot on Montana geology over the last 17 million years of Earth s history. The paper is titled: “Middle Miocene Through Pliocene Sedimentation and Tectonics in Montana: A Record of the Outbreak and Passage of the Yellowstone Hotspot.”
