This Riverside Nonprofit Wants to Break the Poverty Cycle in Delaware

Delaware free mental health covid pandemic program

Dover Post Christina Cultural Arts Center (CCAC) has started an initiative that s intended to address a critical need in these times where people are grapping with a pandemic, a depressed economy and widespread systemic oppression.  While shifting our program delivery and staying connected with our students throughout this pandemic, one thing was apparent - our families, both internal and external, were hurting, said CCAC Executive Director James Ray Rhodes. This hurt stemmed not only from the tumult of COVID-19, but also from mass financial struggles; a clear and evident technology divide; and structural, systemic racist practices and policies. It was also apparent that low-income families and small, minority-focused nonprofits had a different set of challenges than larger businesses and families not on those spectrums.
