Despite the fierce opposition to the ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise by the All Progressives Congress (APC) by mostly party chieftains loyal to the National Leader of the party, Senator Bola Tinubu, the exercise commenced on schedule on February 9, 2020, with a flag-off in Daura, Katsina State by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The National Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by the Governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni, had sought tenure extension last December from the National Executive Committee (NEC), to conduct the exercise.
He was killed by a gang of young men in Gboko on Sunday.
Ahu and other ward officials were training party members for the APC registration and revalidation exercise.
The assailants stormed the venue with clubs, cutlasses, and attacked Ahu.
APC Publicity Secretary in Benue State, James Orgunga, confirmed the incident.
He disclosed that the ward chairman sustained serious injuries and died at a public hospital in Gboko.
The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) of the Benue Command, Kate Anene, said a probe had commenced.
“I can confirm the attack and killing of the APC ward chairman in Gboko, our men rushed to the scene but the suspects fled.

The lingering crisis in the All Progressives Congress in Benue State turned bloody on Sunday as the party’s caretaker chairman in Gboko South Local Government Area ward, Tersoo Ahu, was killed.
The Punch reliably gathered that Ahu was killed by some hoodlums when he went to assess preparations towards the registration in Gboko
The exercise is scheduled to commence on Tuesday.
A party source, who was at the scene of the incident but spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, said, “While the training was ongoing at a hotel (name withheld) at GRA, Gboko, a group of people stormed the venue and demanded to know how the adhoc staff were selected.
