James also revealed after filming for the BBC series had wrapped, he chose to stay in his native Northern Ireland for lockdown, rather than return to London.
It was a choice, he said, that allowed him to continue my relationship with the country and saw him spend time with his dad before his death.
The actor said: “It turned out to be difficult at times but ultimately the most rewarding twist of fate that I happened to be here.
“My father was my best pal growing up and so it has been a blessing for me in so many ways to spend time with him, and rekindle the friendship.”
He’s someone who has really been through a lot in the Troubles, one of the silent ones who never reveal what they’ve been through.
The series follows Detective Brannick as he s urged to drop his investigation into a cold case of mysterious disappearances.
But the deeper he digs, the more he s embroiled in his own dark past, one that leaves him plagued by memories of his dead wife.
