(WTXL) — About 10,000 people who are currently unemployed in the Big Bend are not actively seeking employment, but that could change in the coming weeks. While lawyers discuss the latest complaint in a lawsuit filed against the Department of Economic Opportunity for what they call mishandling of COVID-related claims, Career Source Capital Region is preparing for a new round of job seekers. Unemployment is down to 5.3% across Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla Counties, compared to the state s 6.1 percent. Those currently not seeking employment are covered by a waiver set to expire at the end of the month.
