Despite the cold and the rain happening outside of James Love Elementary School, Monday morning was an exciting time in India Cross kindergarten classroom.
This week marks the start of Cleveland County School s phased-in approach to a return to full-time classroom instruction for pre-kindergarten through 4th-grade students. On Monday, some 2,000 pre-K and 1st-grade students returned to classrooms around the county.
It is the first time many of those classes have been completely full since March 2020, when schools were abruptly closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Since August schools have operated on a hybrid learning model, with roughly half of each class attending school two days each week and doing online classes for three days.
