Georgetown Peabody Library awarded $2 5K grant

Georgetown Peabody Library awarded $2.5K grant Community Content The Georgetown Peabody Library was recently awarded a grant for $2,500 from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act funding that was distributed by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. “Libraries have done an incredible job adapting to virtual and remote programming for residents throughout the pandemic,” said MBLC Director James Lonergan. “These grants continue to support this great work and bring vital programming for everyone in Massachusetts.” Due to COVID restrictions, the Georgetown Peabody Library has been closed to public browsing and programming events.  While curbside service for borrowing materials, children story hours and craft kits have been successful and appreciated, library staff are currently not meeting all the needs of young adult and adult patrons in regards to events and enrichment programming.

Mattapoisett library reading star wins signed Bruins jersey

Mattapoisett library reading star wins signed Bruins jersey Standard-Times Finn Poulos is one of a select group of young people to receive Boston Bruins prizes for their outstanding participation in Mattapoisett Free Public Library’s summer reading program, organizers announced in a press release. Chris Matos, head of the library s children’s department, was excited for the prize winner. “We had an unusual summer last year with our program being just kits for the children to pick up, so it was great to have a special incentive for everyone to get excited about,” said Matos. Finn Poulos couldn’t be happier, organizers said. He said he’s going home to hang it on his wall.
