The City of Newark Election Polling Places application helps citizens locate their election polling place and obtain information about current elected officials. To locate a polling place, simply click on the map or enter an address in the search box. The polling place and respective voting precinct will then be highlighted on the map and information about the polling place will appear in a pop-up box on the page. For an instructional video on how to operate the polling place application, click here.
A form of identification will be required of all voters and masks are required for anyone age 13 and over who is entering the polling place. For absentee ballots, please contact the City Secretary’s Office at (302) 366-7000.
A developer building a student-housing complex on Hillside Road has agreed to implement a number of steps to address neighborsâ concerns about the construction.
Last week, the city ordered a halt to construction until the issues were resolved, but work was allowed to resume a day later after representatives of the contractor and developer met with officials from Newarkâs code enforcement and public works and water resources departments.
âI think public works had had enough. This was causing unnecessary uses of resources for recurring issues,â said Councilman James Horning Jr., who represents the surrounding neighborhoods.
Complaints he heard from constituents included tractor-trailers blocking Hillside Road, trucks tracking mud onto the roadway, sidewalks being blocked and at least once instance of the contractor starting work earlier than allowed on the weekend.
