The former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nairobi branch president, Charles Kanjama, has joined the fray of those seeking to stop the push for a referendum.
Kanjama, in a case filed before High Court Judge Jairus Ngaah, wants the court to quash the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission s (IEBC) verification of signatures.
If the lawyer’s plea is allowed, it would mean the whole exercise driving the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) will have been futile as debate on the Bill to amend the Constitution was based on signatures passing the one million mark.

Kenyans living in the Diaspora may soon enjoy better representation following a Bill that was tabled on Thursday, February 18 seeking to allow them to be nominated in parliament.
Ndia MP George Kariuki has sponsored the bill, arguing that nomination will give them an opportunity to express the interests of all those living in the diaspora.

Currently, the constitution gives room for the nomination of 12 persons by political parties proportional to their numbers in the National Assembly to speak for the youth, persons with disabilities, and workers.
Fresh bid to revive Kenya Power class action lawsuit fails

Summary
Justice James Makau dismissed the application by Gitson Energy Ltd saying the company was not a party in the suit, which was settled by consent in October 2018.
The judge also dismissed a second application seeking to cross-examine lawyer Apollo Mboya on the contents of an affidavit he filed in court last year.
The Judge said the company was never a party to the case nor the consent, which was entered by parties in 2018, noting that the consent had a contractual effect and can only be set aside on application by parties that signed it and not third parties.
