Tarrant police and fire medics were dispatched just after 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, to the 1400 block of Elizabeth Avenue on a 19-year-old shot.

The capital murder charges against a 26-year-old man in a deadly Tarrant shooting have been dismissed and now two Bessemer sisters are instead charged with the crime.
Police say Angel Boyd, 22, and Princess Boyd, 18, lied to investigators about what happened the Sunday night when 19-year-old Cevon Deshun Gibbs was killed.LiHerman John Hayes was initially charged but those charges were dismissed Friday and he was released from the Jefferson County Jail. He had been held for two days on no bond after being arrested hiding in the crawl space of an Ensley home.

A 26-year-old suspect is behind bars, charged in the slaying of a teen in Tarrant Sunday night.
Tarrant police have charged LiHerman John Hayes with capital murder in the killing of Cevon Deshun Gibbs. He was taken into custody about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday by the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Marshals found Hayes, of Birmingham, hiding in the crawl space under a home in the 2900 block of Avenue H. He was arrested without incident and then transported to Tarrant police headquarters for questioning.
