A previously unseen drawing of a young Princess Elizabeth, later Queen Elizabeth II, has emerged for sale nearly a century after it was sent to JM Barrie, the author of Peter Pan. The chalk drawing of a building with many windows was accompanied by an apologetic letter from Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. The letter describes the drawing as "very poor" and suggests it may have been the young princess's vision of what Great Ormond Street Hospital's new Southwood Building should look like. Barrie had strong ties with the royal family in the 1930s and donated the copyright for Peter Pan to the hospital.
