Residents had a high level of difficulty setting an appointment before license plates or driver’s licenses expired, unable to get a time slot until weeks or months after expiration. Although some area residents continue to have difficulty, many who responded to a recent inquiry by the Sturgis Journal said the process is getting easier, although with occasional hiccups. According to michigan.gov/sos, customers may make an appointment up to six months in advance or for the next day.
