Arbizu commented this week in an interview with SVI: “We put together a nonprofit earlier this year, and they’ve been the ones that have been applying for grants and also bringing in artists through myself and other people on the board. We were able to arrange it for the nonprofit to buy the Ford theatre, which is a wonderful development. It took a bit of finagling, but we were able to make that happen.
The Salt River Arts Society, an outgrowth of the original Salt River Symphony Chorus, now owns, organizes and directs the efforts at Ford Theatre. Arbizu explained that most of the plans will continue as before, “For the most part, the plans are the same. We were trying to figure out the best way to make it work. We felt like it made more sense for it to go to nonprofit than to come to James and Daphne.”

Musicians from far and wide are flocking to the valley because Music Land, directed by violinist Michelle Quinn, is hosting its Winter Concert in conjunction with the Star Valley Youth Orchestra at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Center Theater.
An after-school program for high schoolers, Music Land provides âtalented young adults a creative outlet to appreciate and perform classical music in and around Jacksonâs natural splendor,â its website states.
Quinn started her music school for violinists but has been expanding her reach to woodwinds and brass instruments to cultivate a program suitable for all types of burgeoning musicians.
âThis is an opportunity for kids to play in an orchestral setting,â she said. âSo theyâre not only playing with other string players, but theyâre also playing with other kids that are in the band programs at the high school.â
