Regular Bundesliga watchers have come to know to expect the unexpected - and the 2020/21 campaign was no different, with a number of players emerging from the shadows and into the spotlight.
Before this season: Signed from Chelsea s youth academy in summer 2019, Musiala hit the ground running in Munich. Born in Germany to a German mother, he was already fluent in the language before he moved to England, and upon arrival in Bavaria he scored six goals in 12 appearances in the U17 Bundesliga before being promoted to the reserve team, where he scored two goals in eight outings. Still just 17 at the time, he made his Bundesliga debut as a late substitute on Matchday 33 of the 2019/20 season.
It was another emphatic victory for the Germans as they defeated Lazio 1-4 on Tuesday.

English teenage sensation Jamal Musiala contributed to Bayern Munich s 1-4 thrashing of Lazio in the first leg of their last 16 encounter in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. In the process, the 17-year-old became the youngest English scorer in the competition.
Musiala was also named player of the match even as big names like Robert Lewandowski and Leroy Sane also lent their names to the scoreboard for the title holders.
Lewandowski drew first blood inside the opening ten minutes and logged his 72nd goal in the competition. That puts him ahead of Real Madrid legend Raul as the third top scorer in the Champions League. The top two spots are of course still being occupied by FC Barcelona captain Lionel Messi with 119 goals and Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who is a long way ahead at 134.
