Bands, instrument players get Jamaica Jazz festival off to fine start

(Photo: Jazz and Blues Festival Instagram) Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival kicked off Thursday evening with up-and-coming acts showcasing their talent to the world, in the first online version of the event which is resuming after a five-year hiatus. There were pulsating melodies for the approximately three hours that the show lasted, with the newly minted bands and individual players of instruments drawing on material from different genres of music, with reggae being the focal point. Intertwined between the performances were advertisements, messages and interviews from the sponsors and a message from past performer Billy Ocean, with host Debbie Bissoon expertly blending all the pieces together.

Jamaica Jazz is Bringing Back the Magic

1 Shares After a five-year hiatus, music lovers will be excited to find the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival reappearing in their 2021 calendar. With the theme ‘Bring back the Magic’, the festival is scheduled to take place from Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 March. Since the inaugural event in 1996, Jamaica Jazz has hosted over 400 local and international acts including huge stars Celine Dione, Diana Ross, Michael Bolton, Lionel Richie, Kenny Rogers, Maroon 5, and many more. – ADVERTISEMENT – This year’s virtual festival is presented by Steady Image Media Group & Entertainment, who will use donations to support those in the entertainment industry whose sources of livelihood have been badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
