It happened around 7 a.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of 3rd Avenue East .
Deputies say it is unknown who was at the home with Brooks before the shooting. At this time, detectives say they do not have any suspects or a possible motive.

Detectives investigating suspicious death in Manatee County
MANATEE COUNTY – Deputies responding to a shooting found a 32-year-old man dead behind a house with two gunshot wounds, according to the Manatee County Sheriff s Office.
Shortly after 7 a.m., deputies discovered Jamaal Brooks behind a house in the 2100 block of 3rd Avenue East in Palmetto. It is unknown if anyone was at the home with Brooks prior to the shooting.
Detectives do not have any suspects or a possible motive at this time, but the death has been ruled a homicide.

PALMETTO, Fla. (WWSB) -Deputies with the Manatee County Sheriffâs Office are conducting a homicide investigation following the death of a man on Sunday morning in Palmetto.
According to a release put out by the spokesperson at MCSO, several deputies responded to a shooting after 7 a.m. on the 2100 block of 3rd Avenue East in Palmetto.
Deputies say when they arrived a 32-year-old Jamaal Brooks was lying on the ground dead from two gunshot wounds.

A wanted Coralville man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a chase earlier this week.
23-year-old Jamaal Brooks was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 7:30 Friday night. Iowa City Police say Brooks was the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta that sped by an officer parked near the corner of Muscatine Avenue and 4
th Avenue just after 8:15 Wednesday night. The officer in the patrol car said his vehicle shook as Brooks sped by, leading him to turn on his radar and clock Brooks doing 53 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone.
When the officer activated his lights and siren, Brooks allegedly turned down a side street. The officer caught up to him on F Street, but Brooks allegedly turned off his headlights, accelerated to 60 miles per hour and turned southbound onto 6
