he had a chance to meet chris paul, his dad, his family, and he spent a lot of time, maybe three months down there in north carolina with ty lawson and alex stephenson and dionne 2406r7son, and he worked out with ty, so ty was wooing him and kind of, you know, persuading him that carolina blue would look good on jalen. trace: it s a good point, dad, you mentioned a lot of big names, but i want to know, jalen, who s your favorite player? who do you like, lebron? who s your favorite? i like chris paul because he s an all-around player just like me. trace: you are an all-around player, young man. good luck to you. it s great to meet you, you are an amazing athlete. dad, boy, i d be very proud. thank you. i m very proud. trace: oh, i can imagine. i can imagine. thank you both. it s a great story on this good friday. thank you. jamie: he is confident and humble, i love the combination. coming up in the next hour of happening now, securing the
knicks and the bulls. how does it feel to be 10 years old and to have that much attention focused on you? it feels good, but every day i just thank god for what he s done for me, and i stay humble because that s what my dad and my mom and my whole family teaches me every day. trace: yeah. and i know just with the coaches out there both college and high school, you re too young to recruit so it s against the rules, but, boy, they have their eyes on you. if you had to pick, jalen, you know, 10 years old, which way would you go? [laughter] where would you go? probably the acc, north carolina. [laughter] trace: really, north carolina? any influence there, dad, or is this a decision he made on his own? well, actually, actually he got recruited when he was 7 years old by chris paul, cp3 all-stars out of north carolina. they saw him at georgia wan howard s camp, and they recruited him to play on the national aau team.

saying, this is what he s supposed to do. yeah, yeah, definitely. and we keep it all in perspective, trace. it s just, you know, enjoying the moment and not looking too far ahead about the nba or anything like that. it s just a joy as a father to see your son happy and with the joy that the good father brings from up abo. we keep above. we keep it humble, and all these people are recognizing his talent, and it s just remarkable that people see what you do for fun and enjoyment that they, you know, actually receive it that way. so, you know, his talent and his ability for something that was given to him by god to inspire others, and we keep it that way and keep it very humble. trace: we should also mention that jalen s an a student, reads bible passages. your dad talks about being humble, keeping it in interspective perspective, you have practiced with the
