PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 4,008 Covid-19 cases and 11 deaths in the past 24 hours, the second time the number has crossed the 4,000 cases mark.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,374 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 127,662.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 169,379. There are 41,087 active cases with 246 patients being treated in intensive care and 96 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 11 deaths bring the number of fatalities to 630.
The 11 deaths involved nine Malaysians – six men and three women – as well as two foreigners, both of whom were women.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 The Health Ministry has detected 16 new Covid-19 clusters, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said the clusters were located in Selangor, Sabah, Terengganu, Johor, Perak, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, KL Federal Territory and Pahang.
There are now 318 active clusters from the cumulative total of 685.
“The number of clusters which have been deemed as ended today is now 367, including three clusters which are the Jalan Domis cluster, Tinusa cluster and Delima cluster,” he said in a statement.
