GEORGE TOWN: Police here made a major bust with the seizure of RM5.2mil worth of syabu in two separate raids in Batu Feringgi and Teluk Bahang.
Penang police chief Comm Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan said that police personnel seized 144.7kg of syabu, adding that it is believed that the drugs were to be smuggled and marketed in Indonesia.
Comm Sahabudin said a Bangladeshi and a local man were detained during the raids that were conducted on Friday (March 12) and Saturday (March 13). Acting on information, a team of police from the state Criminal Investigation Department (D9) spotted a car driven by a man at Jalan Batu Feringgi -Teluk Bahang on Friday at about 6.30pm, ” said Comm Sahabudin.
