RM150mil to repair roads, bridges damaged by floods in Sabah

2:56 PM MYT KOTA KINABALU: An emergency allocation of RM150mil has been approved to repair roads and bridges damaged by recent floods and landslides in the state, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. The Chief Minister said the relevant departments have been ordered to expedite the repair works as soon as possible. “I was told that road and infrastructure damages due to natural disasters statewide is estimated at RM150mil while property damage like agriculture crops and others is estimated at RM135mil. We are doing our best. I hope the people will understand and be patient as the relevant agencies are carrying out works to fix all the damaged roads, he told reporters after visiting one of the damaged road links at KM44.7 of Jalan Penampang-Tambunan on Tuesday (Jan 26).

THE Public Works Department (PWD) plans to upgrade the drainage at one part of Jalan Penampang-Tambunan to ease the flood woes which those living at Km 14 of the stretch, including Kg Tuunon-Kolopis, have been experiencing for the past few months. A Department spokesman said this work had been included in the list of proposed works to be carried out in 2021. “We intend to build a new drain at Km 14 once we have the funds to do so, as our budget for this year has been exhausted,” he said.
