Covid-19: Malaysia records 1,300 new infections, five more deaths Sulhi Khalid © Provided by The Edge KUALA LUMPUR (April 6): Malaysia reported 1,300 new Covid-19 cases today higher than yesterday s 1,070 raising cumulative cases to 353,329 thus far. Meanwhile, five more deaths were recorded, taking the nationwide Covid-19 death toll to 1,300, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. Three deaths were confirmed in Sabah, and one each in Selangor and Kelantan, he said in a statement. Active cases fell to 14,161 from 14,278 yesterday, as new daily recoveries outpaced new infections at 1,412. Total recoveries to date stood at 337,868, or 95.6% of overall infections. Of today s new Covid-19 cases, all but 24 were locally transmitted. Dr Noor Hisham said Sarawak reported the highest number of new cases with 385, followed by Selangor (242) and Kelantan (126).

In a statement, its director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the total daily infections, 24 were imported, bringing the cumulative positive cases to 353,329 since the pandemic arrived in Malaysia.
