Kota Kinabalu: The High Court here maintained the discharge and acquittal of a man on a charge of reckless driving which caused the death of a Brunei couple and their teenage daughter in Papar, four years ago.
Judicial Commissioner Amelati Parnell on Wednesday in delivering her ruling, dismissed the appeal by the prosecution and affirmed the decision of the Magistrate’s Court in discharging and acquitting the respondent, Kasno Sani on the said charge.
The prosecution was appealing against the Magistrate’s Court’s decision to discharge and acquit Kasno of the charge without his defence being called.

Kota Kinabalu: Two companies, one of them a concessionaire, and two men were charged in the Sessions Court here separately under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.

The first company, Pembinaan Kekal Mewah Sdn Bhd, represented by its Director and Tang Yiew Kok, a project manager, pleaded not guilty before Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim to the charge against them.
The charge stated that as employers, they allegedly failed to establish a secure traffic control management system at the entrance to the construction site resulting in an accident on one Edin Amir, a passport holder. The company and Tang were jointly accused of committing the offence which allegedly took place at 1.30pm on Feb 24 this year at KM20, Jalan Papar-Beaufort, Papar.
